Tibet, various buddha (8)

Circa 1200, Tibet, Kasyapa, painted clay on a wooden armature, 450 cm in total, 310 cm the figure, photo: courtesy of Ulrich von Schroeder, Buddhist Sculptures in Tibet Volume Two, Visual Dharma Publications, Hong Kong, p. 865 pl. 199B, at the sNye thang monastery, west of Lhasa (Tibet).

The author specifies that according to the monks this buddha is Dipankara – both are buddhas of the past.

18th century, Tibet, Kasyapa ? (labelled ‘Amoghadarshin’), gilt bronze, 15,4 cm, private collection, Auction 819 lot 70, Nagel

Although described by the auction house as making the abhaya mudra with his right hand (and perhaps confused with Amoghasiddhi?), this buddha makes the gesture of debate/discussion (vitarka mudra) like the previous one.
