The lama is seated on a plain cushion, wrapped in monastic robe, a meditation cloak over his shoulders, one hand in the meditation gesture, the other  (with delicate fingers and nails) resting over the thick folds of his garment. His square face is framed with a mass of curly hair, he has large silver-inlaid eyes and thin eyebrows that meet to form a V-shape.
