Some of the characters on each side of the buddha are wearing a type of head dress often seen on Pakistani sculptures dating from the 3rd or 4th century, which corresponds to the Gandhara period, while the facial features of the buddha are different from the Greco-buddhist style (softer and rounder, with a wider nose and flatter hair).
